The term ‘housekeeping amendments’ generally refers to legislation intended to correct errors, clarify regulations or update information in an existing bylaw. Over the past year, Islands Trust staff and the Gabriola Island Local Trust Committee (LTC) have compiled a list of minor issues, errors or omissions in the Gabriola Land Use Bylaw (LUB) and Official Community Plan (OCP). The LTC gave First Reading to housekeeping Bylaw Nos. 279 (Land Use Bylaw amendments) and 278 (Official Community Plan amendments) on October 2, 2014. Proposed Bylaws 278 and 279 have now been referred to external agencies and First Nations for consultation, and the Public Hearing is anticipated to be held in Spring 2015.
To assist with understanding the proposed amendments, staff have prepared a Plain Language Guide which is available in the document list below. If you have any questions about this project, please contact the Gabriola Planner at email@example.com or by calling (250) 247-2211.
