July 10, 2017 | LTC Meeting Highlights
The Local Trust Committee issued a development permit (GL-DP-2016.5) and development variance permit (GL-DVP-2017.2) for the reconstruction of a sea wall. The bylaws to implent the Galiano Green Housing Project (GL-RZ-2011.1) were adopted, The Telecomunications project was discussed and further discussion will take place at the September meeting. A bylaw was advanced to allow the LTC to have electronic meetings in certain circumstances.

March 21, 2017 LTC Meeting | First Nations & the Gulf Islands Presentation
(RESCHEDULED from February 6, 2017)
On March 21, 2017 at 1:45 pm, during the LTC meeting at the South End Hall, Fiona MacRaild with the Islands Trust will provide a presentation that will help lend some clarity to the many First Nations claims on Galiano Island. Fiona has a 2 year position with Islands Trust to help with our First Nations and Marine issues. The regular LTC meeting commences at 11 am.
March 6, 2017 | LTC Meeting Highlights
The Galiano Island LTC considered four Temporary User Permit (TUP) applications for vacation home rentals. The permits were all approved with minor amendments. Consideration was also given to a rezoning application from the Galiano Conservancy. Subject to that consideration staff was directed to work with the applicants to develop a comprehensive development zone approach. Bylaw Nos. 259 and 260 (Wolstenholme) to allow a visitor accommodate use located on Georgeson Bay Road were also approved. The hard work of the Special Advisory Planning Commission on the Telecommunication Strategy was also acknowledged.
