December 3, 2018 | LTC Meeting Highlights

The Galiano Island LTC approved Development Variance Permit GL-DVP-2018.4 (Galiano Health Care Society). The LTC gave direction to staff to provide comments on the APC Affordable Housing Report dated September 2018. The LTC also approved the 2019 annual meeting schedule.

September 2018 | Housing Needs Assessment Report

Housing needs assessments are the first step a community can take to understand the gap(s) between the housing needs of its people and the availability of suitable housing to meet that need. The Southern Region Housing Needs Assessment is available here.

Notice of Public Hearing | September 17, 2018

The Local Trust Committee will hold a Public Hearing at its regular business meeting on September 17, 2018 for proposed Bylaws 267 and 268.  In general, the purpose of the bylaws are to rezone and redesignate the property as shown in the sketch map in order to bring the use of the land into compliance with the provisions of the Galiano Island Land Use ByLaw (LUB). July 9, 2018 | LTC Meeting Highlights

The Galiano Island LTC gave Third Reading to proposed Bylaw 265 & 266 for GL-RZ-2017.1 (Stevens). These bylaws will be referred to EC and the Minister for approval. Staff will report back to the LTC with an updated draft covenant. The LTC gave direction for staff to schedule a Community Information Meeting and Public Hearing for proposed Bylaw Nos. 267 & 268 (GL-RZ-2017.2 (Mignault)) at a future LTC meeting (date and time to be determined). GL-TUP-2018.1 was approved.

July 9, 2018 | Community Information, Public Hearing & Regular Business Meeting

A CIM and Public Hearing regarding draft bylaws No. 265 and 266 will be held July 9th at the North Community Hall (22790 Porlier Pass Rd).  In general terms the bylaws would redesignate and rezone an approximate 2.2 hectare portion of DL37 to Forest Industrial to allow excavation contractor workshops and yards, gravel processing and storage and one accessory dwelling.  See GL-RZ-2017.1 for more information

June 11, 2018 | LTC Meeting Highlights

The Galiano Island LTC gave Second Reading to proposed Bylaw 266 (as amended) and proposed Bylaw 265 for GL-RZ-2017.1 (Stevens). A Public Hearing for this application will be held at the regular LTC meeting on July 9, 2018. The Galiano Island LTC gave First Reading to draft Bylaws 267 and 268 for GL-RZ-2017.2 (Mignault) and referred the bylaws to agencies and First Nations. Application GL-ALR-2017.1 (Kramer) was not authorized to proceed to the ALC. 

CRD Management Plan for Matthews Point Regional Park | Community Input until June 24, 2018

The Capital Regional District has drafted a management plan for Matthews Point Regional Park and is currently collecting comments from May 11 to June 24, 2018. The CRD will host an Information Booth at the Galiano Saturday Market on May 26th (10 am to 2 pm) and an Information Open House at the Galiano South End Hall on June 7th (noon to 3pm). The item will also be on the June 11, 2018 Galiano Island LTC agenda. See CRD webpage for further information.

Notice of Public Hearing | February 5, 2018

The Local Trust Committee will hold a Community Information Meeting & Public Hearing at its regular business meeting on February 5, 2018 for proposed Bylaws 262 and 263.  In general, the proposed bylaws are intended to allow for the development of a nature protection and environmental education centre on the property.
