Keats Island Shoreline Protection Project (Phase 1)

At the April 19, 2018 LTC regular meeting, the LTC endorsed a Project Charter for the Keats Island Shoreline Protection Project.

A survey regarding this project is available here.

The purpose of this project is to explore options that would strengthen the policy and regulatory framework for docks and other foreshore development on Keats Island. Phase 1 of the project includes two community consultation events. The community consultation events provide an opportunity to:

  • Share information, including locations of sensitive ecosystems and other relevant information,
  • Introduce potential policy, regulatory, or voluntary stewardship options related to shoreline protection,
  • Solicit input regarding community shoreline values on Keats Island.

The first event was held on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Chartroom at Keats Camp, Keats Island. A copy of the presentation is available here.

A second event will be held in September 2018 (date and time TBD) in the Lower Mainland (location TBD).

Results of the community consultation events and questionnaire will help to inform the scope and objectives of a subsequent phase of the project, which may include potential changes to the Official Community Plan (OCP) and/or Land Use Bylaw (LUB).
