November 2013 | Senior's Housing Application Reviewed
The LTC requested the senior's housing applicant reduce the number of proposed suites. Read more>> A Public Hearing is scheduled for the February 26, 2014 meeting, proposed (secondary suites) bylaws. Staff will invite CRD Regional Director, David Howe to the March 26, 2014 LTC to discuss the maintenance of CRD docks. First Reading has been given to Bylaws 159 and 160 which are proposed amendments to the secondary suite bylaw. Read more>>
October 2013 | LTC Highlights from Meeting
Fallow Deer Eradication Plan has been added to LTC Work Program. The draft secondary suite bylaws 159 and 160 have been amended to allow both a cottage and secondary suite on lots larger than 4 hectares. Riparian Area Regulation (RAR) implementation has been removed from the LTC work program.
September 2013 | LTC Highlights from Meeting
The LTC supported the 2014 and 2015 Budget submissions prepared by staff. The estimated budget amounts were $2000.00 for the completion of the Riparian Area Regulation implementation and $5000.00 for the review of the Land Use Bylaw. The status of the Oceanwood Seniors housing Rezoning application was discussed and staff advised the LTC that Carol Munro is being retained to carry out the requested needs assessment. The LTC directed staff to amend the draft secondary suite bylaws 159 and 160 based on referral agency comments. Staff will be bringing amended bylaws to the October 30 LTC meeting for consideration of 1st reading. Read More >>
July 2013 | Conservancy Society Receives Stewardship Award
The LTC presented the Mayne Island Conservancy Society with a stewardship award for their work on a shoreline care program. Bylaw 158 was adopted, the bylaw relieves applicants applying for boundary adjustment subdivisions from having to prove proof of potable water in cases where a sufficient supply is already established. The LTCs work program was amended and now includes: 1) Riparian Area Regulation Implementation, 2) Housing Options (secondary suites), 3) OCP and LUB amendments.
