December 18, 2014 | 2015 Meeting Schedule Adopted

October 22, 2014 | Meeting Cancelled

At its September 20, 2014, meeting the LTC resolved to cancel its October 22, 2014, business meeting. 

September 21, 2014 | Letter to MoTI

Regarding Georgina Point Road/Miners Bay, the LTC sent a letter to the ministry requesting action and citing safety concerns.

September 20, 2014 | LTC Meeting Highlights

At its regular business meeting, the LTC reviewed amended bylaws regarding the rezoning application MA-RZ-2012.1 (Oceanwood) and gave the two draft bylaws First Reading.  The next LTC meeting and possible Public Hearing for proposed bylaws No 161, 162, 163, and 164 is November 26, 2014.  The 2015/2016 budget submission was approved by the LTC.   

July 30, 2014 | LTC Meeting Highlights

The Mayne LTC met and discussed the draft Oceanwood property zoning bylaws and requested the Planner make further amendments to the bylaws and present them to the LTC at its September meeting. Two bylaws 161 (OCP) and 162 (LUB) that have been prepared to implement several, mostly technical, amendments to the bylaws were given First Reading. A public hearing for bylaws 161 and 162 will be held in the Fall.  

June 25, 2014 | LTC Meeting Highlights

The LTC issued a Temporary Use Permit for up to three boats owned by strata owners to use the Mayne Island Resort Dock.   The permit is valid for 3 years. Draft Bylaws 163 and 164 regarding the rezoning of the Oceanwood property were reviewed, these are to be forwarded to the APC and agencies and will be on the July LTC agenda for consideration of First Reading.  Draft Bylaws 161 and 162 (OCP and LUB Technical amendments)  were reviewed and amendments requested.  The LTC will consider draft bylaws 161 and 162 further at its July meeting.  Riparain Area Regulations implementation was discussed and staff were directed to prepare an implementation process for Village Bay/Deacon Creek only. 

May 21, 2014 | LTC Meeting Highlights

The LTC discussed the application MA-TUP-2013.1 and directed staff to put it on the June agenda to consider issuance.  MA-RZ-2012.1 was discussed and staff was directed to prepared draft bylaws for the LTCs review including wording for a groundwater protection DPA.  Margaret Henigman from the Ministry of Forests Lands and Natural Resource Operations answered questions on the Riparian Area Regulations (RAR).  The LTC amended its work program by placing fallow deer management on the project list and RAR implementation in the top priority list. 

April 23, 2014 | LTC Meeting Highlights

A Community Information Meeting was held regarding MA-RZ-2012.1 Oceanwood. The LTC reviewed a staff report and further directed staff to provide a report to include research and recommendations on: groundwater protection, phasing of development, OCP policies on greenhouse gas emissions, and amenity zoning.  The LTC also reviewed a staff report regarding the Temporary Use Permit application by Mayne Island Resort and was directed to prepare an amended draft permit.  The wording of the 2013/2014 annual report was approved.

March 26, 2014 | LTC Meeting Highlights

The LTC reviewed a letter from the Honorable Steve Thomson, Minister of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations regarding the Riparian Area Regulations and, further reviewed the currently posted Land Use Applications.  Approved by the Executive Committee, bylaws 159 and 160 will now be forwarded to the Honourable Coralee Oakes for approval.  A staff report regarding technical amendments to the OCP and LUB was reviewed with a portion of the report being forwarded to the APC for comment.

February 26, 2014 | LTC Meeting Highlights

The LTC reviewed some land use applications which included the following: a Temporary Use permit application regarding the Mayne Island Resort Dock; an amended multiunit rezoning application for the Oceanwood property; and a Temporary Use permit renewal for a short term vacation rental.  Also, a Public Hearing was held for proposed bylaws 159 and 160 (secondary suites). Bylaws 159 and 160 were given further readings and advanced to the executive committee of the Islands Trust.  The LTC supported the project charter regarding technical amendments to the OCP and LUB Amendments Project.
