November 28, 2016 | LTC Meeting Update
The Mayne LTC met on November 28 and adopted five bylaws: Bylaws 165 and 166 (STVR use of Cottages), Bylaws 168 and 169 (Horton Bay Community Dock), and 170 (Mayne Island Resort). There was a guest speaker from the CRD – John Reilly - Manager Housing Planning and Programs. Two topics were discussed – Short Term Vacation Rentals and Affordable Housing. In the new year staff will be concentrating on two projects: Riparian Area Implementation and Commercial Land Use Review.
November 7, 2016 | LTC Meeting Update
A Public Hearing was held for a bylaw amending zoning regulations that apply to the Mayne Island resort - Bylaw 170 was advanced to the Executive Committee of the Islands Trust. Application MA-TUP-2016.2 for the use of a residence for a short term vacation rental on Campbell Bay Road was denied by the LTC. The decision on a road closure request from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure was postponed until a site review is carried out. The proposed 2017 meeting schedule was adopted.
The next LTC meeting is a community information meeting scheduled for Nov 28, 2016. The topics of the CIM are Short Term Vacation rental of residences and affordable housing. Anyone interested in these topics is requested to come.

September 12, 2016, 2016 | LTC Meeting Update
The Mayne Island LTC held its regular monthly meeting on September 12. They considered proposed Bylaw 167 (guidelines for Short Term Vacation Rentals) and decided that futher discussion was needed before considering the bylaw. The 2017-2018 project funding request was approved and the October 17 LTC meeting was cancelled and rescheduled to November 7. The LTC projects remained the same – Commercial Land Use review, Fallow deer eradication, STVR review, and RAR implementation. Other topics discussed were BC Hydro rates, Cotton Park and Affordable housing.

May 30, 2016 | LTC Meeting Update
Two temporary use permits for tourist accommodations were reviewed and will be on the June 27 agenda for further consideration. Bylaws for the proposed Anson Road community dock were given second reading and will be going to public hearing on June 27. A Bylaw to amend the zoning for the Mayne Island Resort received 1st reading. Project Charters for two Local trust Committee projects, Commercial Land Use Review and Riparian Area Regulation implementation, were approved.
April 25, 2016 | LTC Meeting Update
The Mayne LTC met on April the 25 and the Agenda items included the following:
1) MA-RZ-2015.2 - Mayne Island Resort Rezoning request – residential use of tourist accommodation units and expanded retail space - planner was requested to draft bylaws for the May 30 LTC Meeting.
2) MA-TUP-2016.1 (Leathers) – request for use of an accessory building as an STVR was forwarded to the APC for review.
3) Riparian Area Regulation Implementation was placed back on the project priority list - staff is to prepare a project charter for the May 30 LTC Meeting.
