Housing is a top priority of the North Pender Island Local Trust Committee. The topic is being addressed in various phases.
Housing needs assessments are the first step a community can take to understand the gap(s) between the housing needs of its people and the availability of suitable housing to meet that need. The Southern Region Housing Needs Assessment is available here.

Secondary Suites
Project Charter - dated February 14, 2017
The NPI LTC is considering secondary suites as phase two of its housing project.
A secondary suite is an accessory dwelling unit located within the principal residential building; limited in size it is affordable but market based. Given the number of single family residences on North Pender Island, and its aging and growing population, the ability to provide legalized secondary suites could assist the community in addressing its perceived housing diversity and affordability issues.
