Stewardship
Awards
The Islands Trust Community Stewardship Awards recognize individuals and groups for programs or actions that have made a significant contribution towards the object of the Islands Trust.
The Islands Trust Council selected the recipients of the tenth annual Community Stewardship Awards during its quarterly meeting on Denman Island, June 15, 2011.
Eight people and two groups were nominated this year. The nominees’ projects include a wide range of initiatives, from food security to creation of a new community medical clinic.
The Community Stewardship Awards will be presented on the individual islands where the recipients live. The Islands Trust recognizes award recipients with a small plaque that commemorates their award.
Nominations for the 2011 Community Stewardship Awards closed April 30, 2011. The public can make nominations for next year’s awards in the spring of 2012.
